テクノロジー（Technology、科学技術）とは、人類や他の種が道具や技巧の知見を使い、環境に適応し制御する能力を高める方法に関する幅広い概念である。テクノロジーの語源はギリシア語の technología (τεχνολογία) であり、téchnē (τέχνη) すなわち「技巧」と -logía (-λογία) すなわち「何かを学ぶこと、または学問分野」を組み合わせた語である[1]。しかし、厳密な定義は捉えがたい。「テクノロジー」は人類の使う具体的な機械やハードウェアや道具を指すこともあるが、システム、組織的手法、技術といったより広いテーマを指すこともある。
