ディスインフォメーションとは、意図的に流布される虚偽の情報のことである。敵視する相手（政府や競合他社など）に関する誤解・誤認を世間に広め、信用を失墜させる、といった目論見で行われる。
ディスインフォメーションという単語そのものは20世紀前半にすでに使用例が確認されている。2020年現在、ソーシャルメディア全盛の時代、フェイクニュースやディープフェイクが深刻な問題であり続けており、いわゆる新型コロナウイルスの世界的な蔓延を受けて「インフォデミック」の発生も危惧されている。ディスインフォメーションも、そうした情報化時代において懸念される概念のひとつとして再認識されている。

偽情報（にせじょうほう、英: disinformation）は、虚偽情報の拡散・情報改竄・情報の抹消行為などで敵・標的の認知を変容させる情報戦の一種。 古くから用いられてきた戦術であるもの、特にインターネットの普及後は規模や影響力も拡大している。逆情報とも言われる[1]。
