Low-Altitude Parachute Extraction System.

輸送機から物資を投下する方法の一種。
地表ぎりぎりの低高度で飛行する輸送機の後部カーゴドアから、物資を落下傘によって引き出し、そのまま地表へ投下する。
着陸や荷降ろしの手順を省略して、高高度から投下できない重量物でも素早く下ろすことができるため、前線での戦術輸送に適する。
通常の貨物を下ろすだけでなく、空挺戦車などの戦闘車両を空挺降下させることもできる。
低高度からではあるが落下をともない、着地時に地面との摩擦を生じるため、パレットなどで貨物を保護しておく必要がある。

ここで言う略語とは、次のようなものである。

• アラビア数字またはアルファベットで始まるもの。
• 何の略なのか記述できるもの。（適切な和訳語がないこともある）
• 実在する、または過去に実在した用語。
• 4軍（陸・海・空軍および海兵隊）の区別は問わない。また、名詞には限定されない。
• 軍事は外交の一手段であるので、国際的な組織（NATO、UN、WTO等）および軍事関連条約も加えてある。

ただし、次のものは含まない。

• 各国の軍隊の名称：特定の部隊、方面軍を含む。（例：USAF、RAF、JASDF等）
  • 各国の軍隊の一覧
  • 陸軍の一覧
  • 海軍の一覧
  • 空軍の一覧
• 航空機の名称：（例：F-15、B-52、Su-27等）
  • アメリカ軍機の一覧
  • イギリス空軍機の一覧
  • 航空自衛隊の装備品一覧
• 戦闘車輌の名称：（例：M1、AMX-30、T-34等）
  • 戦車一覧
• ミサイル・ロケット弾、兵装の名称：（例：M61、AIM-9、R-73、AAM-5等）
• 軍用電子機器の正式名称：（例：AN/SPY-1、AN/AAQ-13等）
• 記号及び符号：1文字以上のアルファベットで表されるが略語でないもの。
  • 軍用機の任務・種別記号：戦闘(機)を示す「F」、UAVを示す「Q」等
  • 艦艇の種別記号：駆逐艦または護衛艦を示す「DD」、原子力潜水艦を示す「SSN」等
• NATOコードネーム：（例：AA-7、SS-1B、H級等）
  • NATOコードネームの一覧 ミサイル、航空機、潜水艦、水上艦
