　AEDは、心臓の致死的な不整脈を自動で感知して電流を流し、心臓の動きを正常に戻すことができる器械です。１分でもはやく心臓の動きを正常に戻すと救命率が高いため、学校や空港など人が集まる場所に設置されています。また体育館、運動施設やマラソン大会でも準備される必要があります。
　AEDは器械が心臓の動きを判断しますので、間違って不要な電流が流れることはありません。使用方法は機種によって多少違いがありますが、音声や文字案内に沿って使用できます。資格がなくても誰でも使用することができますが、AEDの使用方法と心肺蘇生法を学ぶことができる講習会も多く開催されています。
