双極性障害

双極性障害（そうきょくせいしょうがい、英: bipolar disorder、ドイツ語: bipolare Störung）は、通常の気分をはさんで躁病（そうびょう）と抑うつの病相（エピソード）を呈する精神障害である^[1]^[2]^[3]^[4]。ICD-10と以前のDSM-IV（1994年）では、うつ病とともに気分障害に分類されている^[5]。ICD-10における診断名は双極性感情障害であり^[6]、古くは躁うつ病（そううつびょう、躁鬱病）と呼称された。

^ 出典の日本語記事（2012年8月、10月）には20倍と記載されているが、聞き取り間違いなどの可能性がある^[78]。同委員長はブログ（2012年4月）で40倍と述べている^[79]。また、他の英語記事（2012年5月、2013年5月）でも40倍になっている^[80]^[81]。
