「chop」とは、切る・刻む・取りやめる行為のことを意味する英語表現

「chop」の基本的な意味

chopとは基本的には切ることを表す動詞英単語である。主に手動で行う細かい切断や、切り分ける動作使用される。例として、野菜や肉などを小さく切るときなどに使用するまた、木材石材などの大きな物を切り分ける場合使用することがある

chopは動詞として使用される以外にも名詞として使用される場合がある。例としては、豚肉ステーキ意味するpork chop空手の手刀を意味するkarate chopなどがある。

また、chopには取りやめる、中止するという意味もある。これはchopの切断するという意味から転じて取り組んでいる行為途中で急に切り捨てるイメージとなり、中止するという意味で使用されるようになったこのような意味で使用する場合は、フォーマルな文脈ビジネスやりとりなどが多く日常的にはあまり使われないその場合は、代わりにcancelstopといった英単語がよく使用される

「chop」の語源

chopの語源は、古英語切り裂く、割るという意味の「ceapian」である。元々は主に木材石材切断する時に使用されていた。中英語時代にはこれに加えて卸すという意味を持つようになった。これは、商品業者から仕入れて分けて売る際に、手作業商品切り分けることが多かったことが理由である。

「chop」の発音・読み方

chopの発音は、カタカナ表記場合アメリカ英語ではチャップイギリス英語ではチョップとなり、発音記号アメリカ英語では「ɑp」、イギリス英語では「ɒp」である。

は唇を前に突き出して、息を出しチュ発音する。ɑは口を大きく開け短くアと発音して合わせてチャとなる。pは唇を閉じ、その状態でプッと唇を弾くように発音する合わせてチャップとなる。チョップ発音する場合の後に口を大きく開け、唇を丸く前に突き出し短く「オ」と発音することでɔの発音になり、続けてチョとなる。続くpは同じ発音方法である。

「CHOP(チョップ)療法」とは

CHOP(チョップ療法とは悪性リンパ腫の治療用いられる化学療法一種である。シクロホスファミドCyclophosphamide)、ドキソルビシン(Hydroxydaunorubicin )、ビンブラスチン(Oncovin)、プレドニゾンPrednisone)の4つ抗がん剤用いた治療のことである。4種抗がん剤頭文字取りCHOP療法の名前となっている。この治療方法限らず医療行為計画行動指針レジメンという。

近年ではCHOP療法リツキシマブRituximab)を追加したR-CHOP療法主流となっている。リツキシマブ悪性リンパ腫増殖抑制する効果があり、R-CHOP療法は、CHOP療法よりも治療効果が高いとされている。

CHOP療法R-CHOP療法を受ける患者は、治療による副作用として吐き気嘔吐口内炎下痢髄膜炎感染症などのリスクがあるため看護師は、患者の状態を監視し副作用出た場合には、適切な看護提供することが重要である。また、心理的なサポートや、療法についての説明指導なども行う必要がある

DDIT3(DNA damage-inducible transcript 3)またはCHOP(C/EBP homologous protein)は、DDIT3遺伝子にコードされるアポトーシス促進性の転写因子である[5][6]DNA結合型転写因子のC/EBPファミリー英語版の一員である[6]。このタンパク質はC/EBPファミリーの他のメンバーとヘテロ二量体を形成し、ドミナントネガティブ型の阻害因子としてそれらのDNA結合活性を阻害する。アディポジェネシス英語版赤血球形成への関与が示唆されており、細胞のストレス応答に重要な役割を果たす[6]
