- ^ 「正統」とはあくまで自己言及としてなされるものであって、客観的に正統という立場はあらゆる教派に存在しない。一方、自らの「伝統性」を主張する正教会・東方諸教会・カトリック教会・聖公会などを考え合わせると、「旧守的」という表現にも問題が残る。後述するように、福音派の定義については簡潔な記述は困難である。
