フォートラン
【英】Fortran
フォートランとは、科学技術計算向けの手続き型言語で、世界で最初の高級言語である。1956年にIBM社のJ.Backusによって開発された。
数式をほぼそのまま文として記述できるので、プログラムの作成が容易であると言われている。また、実数だけでなく、複素数も使用することが可能で、多数の数学関数を組み込み関数としてサポートしているのも特徴である。
開発当時のプログラミング言語は、まだ、コンピュータが解釈できる言語と1対1にしか対応していないアセンブリ言語しかなかったため、急速に普及した。その後、様々な機能の追加や強化を経て、Fortranとして1994年にJIS規格となり、また、Fortran95が1998年に制定されている。
