米国の航空機メーカー、ボーイングが開発するボーイング777型の新型機。2013年11月にローンチ（製造開発計画の正式立ち上げ）が発表された。「777-8X」および「777-9X」の2機種でファミリーを構成する。
ボーイング777-8Xは座席数350席、航続距離は約17000キロメートルであり、777-9Xは座席数400席超、航続距離は約15000キロメートルとなっている。なお、2014年現在、日本航空（JAL）や全日空（ANA）などで主力機として運用されている「777-300ER」型機は、座席数300未満、航続距離15000キロメートル未満程度であり、より多くの乗客をより長距離まで運ぶことが可能となっている。燃費は競合する他社機に比べて12パーセントほど向上されているという。
ボーイング777Xの初期発注は259機に上り、過去最多の発注コミットメントになったと発表されている。製造開始は2017年、初号機の配備は2020年が予定されている。2014年1月には製造拠点がシアトル近郊に定められている。
