「invention」の意味

「invention」は、新しいアイデアや方法、またはその具体的な実現物を指す英単語である。発明や創造物と訳されることが多く、科学技術や芸術の分野で革新的な成果を生み出すことを意味する。また、独創性や創造力を持って新たなものを生み出す行為そのものを指すこともある。

「invention」の発音・読み方

「invention」の発音は、/ɪnˈvɛnʃən/であり、IPAのカタカナ読みでは「インヴェンション」となる。日本人が発音するカタカナ英語では、「インベンション」と読むことが一般的である。

1 発明。創意。発明品。

2 多声的な手法により書かれた楽曲。特に、バッハ作曲の二声および三声のクラビーア小曲集をさすことが多い。


発明(はつめい)Invention


”発明”とは、自然法則を利用した技術的思想の創作のうち高度のものをいうと規定されている(特許法2条)。

特許法は発明を保護するものであるから、上記の定義に合致せず、発明に該当しないものには特許は与えられない。たとえば、発見は、創作ではないので発明に該当せず特許対象とならない。また、技術的思想でなければならないので、技術としての客観性のない「個人的技能」は発明ではない。

ビジネスの手法は、自然法則を使用していないので、やはり発明ではなく特許対象とならない。ただし、コンピュータによって実現したビジネス手法は発明に該当し、特許となりうる。詳しくは、自然法則の利用性の解説を参照のこと。
