セルピンセリンプロテアーゼインヒビターセリンプロテアーゼ阻害剤: Serpin)は、最初にプロテアーゼ阻害効果を持つ事で同定された類似構造を持つタンパク質スーパーファミリーで、全てのの生物で発見される[1]。セルピン (serpin) の略名は元々最初に同定されたセルピンがキモトリプシン様セリンプロテアーゼに対して働く (serine protease inhibitors) ために名付けられた造語である[2][3]。特筆すべきはセルピンの珍しい活性機構であり、セルピンは立体構造の大きな変化を受ける事でプロテアーゼの活性中心を破壊し、標的を不可逆的に阻害する[4][5]。この阻害機構は他の一般的なプロテアーゼ阻害剤が競合的阻害剤で、酵素と結合して活性中心を塞ぐ事で働くのと対照的である[5][6]
