スピルオーバー
【英】Spill-over
スピルオーバーとは、衛星放送の電波が目的のサービスエリアの外部へと届く現象のことである。
スピルオーバーが発生すると、電波が外のサービスエリアへ侵入するため、外のエリアで提供されている衛星放送電波に混信を引き起こさせることがある。あるいは、隣県や隣国にスピルオーバーが発生し、本来は見ることのできない地域でテレビ番組が視聴可能になることもある。
スピルオーバー効果を現象させるためには、アンテナで電波の志向性を調整することなどが効果的となる。なお、スピルオーバーの語は本来「流出」「漏出」といった意味で、技術や経済効果が外部に波及すること全般を指す。
