リフォーム〈reform〉

改装、増改築のこと。建築後のライフスタイルの変化に合わせて行われることが多い。ログハウスは、リフォーム、とくに増築が難しいといわれるが、それはセトリング対策が必要だから。しかしログ材の収縮が終了したあとに行えば、その対策も不要となる。簡単なリフォームとしては、床や壁の仕上げ材の張り替え、ロフト床の増設、大きな個室をふたつに仕切る、などがあげられる。新築時から、将来のリフォームを見据え、構造材や建具類を余分に設置しておくのも、賢い方法といえる。
