E-デモクラシーとは、「Electronic（電子工学）」と「democracy(民主主義)」を組み合わせた造語であり、インターネットなどの情報通信技術を用いて共和制民主主義や議会制民主主義(間接民主制)、その他様々な民主主義モデルにおける政治プロセスを強化する技術のことである[1]。
