2018年のMoto3シーズンは、FIMロードレース世界選手権の第70回大会の軽量級クラスとなる。ジョアン・ミルはディフェンディングチャンピオンであるが、2018年シーズンはMoto2クラスにステップアップした。

スペイン人ライダーのホルヘ・マルティンが第18戦マレーシアグランプリで優勝し、2018年のMoto3クラスチャンピオンとなった。ランキング2位のマルコ・ベッツェッキには26ポイントと圧倒的な差を付けた。

最終戦バレンシアグランプリにワイルドカード参戦したジャン・オンジュは15歳115日と、グランプリに出場した最年少ライダーの記録を更新した^[1]。

ライダーの変更

• エネア・バスティアニーニはレオパード・レーシングに移籍、Moto2にステップアップしたジョアン・ミルの空席を埋める。アロンソ・ロペスはバスティアニーニの移籍で空いたエストレーリャ・ガリシア0,0の空席を埋める。
• スカイ・レーシングチームVR46のアンドレア・ミーニョがロレンツォ・ダッラ・ポルタに代わってアンヘル・ニエト・チームに移籍する。
• デニス・フォッジアはスカイ・レーシングチームVR46からMoto3にフルシーズンデビューする。フォッジアは2017年シーズンはワイルドカードおよび代役として出場した。
• ジャウマ・マシアは2017年シーズンはベスター・キャピタル・ドバイから代役ライダーとして参戦していたが、2018年はフル参戦デビューを果たす。
• マルコ・ベッツェッキはCIPからMCサクソプリントに移籍、パトリク・プルッキネンと代わる。

• マリア・エレーラはMoto3を離れ、スーパースポーツ300世界選手権に転向する。
• ファン・フランシスコ・ゲバラは個人的な理由からRBA BOÉレーシングチームを離れ、レースからの引退を発表した。後任として2017年のレッドブルMotoGPルーキーズカップチャンピオンの真崎一輝が起用された。

シーズン途中の変更

• マカール・ユルチェンコは成績不振のため、CIP - グリーンパワーと相互の合意により契約を終了しチームを離脱した。後任としてステファノ・ネパがオランダグランプリ以降起用された。
• レアーレ・アヴィンティア・アカデミーは、レース中の事故により死去したアンドレアス・ペレスに敬意を表して、カタルーニャグランプリからチーム名を「レアーレ・アヴィンティア・アカデミー77」に変更する。また、リヴィオ・ロイは8戦に出場し8ポイントと成績が低迷したためシーズン途中でチームを解雇され、後任として、カタルーニャグランプリに同チームからワイルドカードで出場したビセンテ・ペレスが起用された。
• ダリン・ビンダーは負傷のためドイツグランプリを欠場した。代役としてスペイン人ライダーのラウル・フェルナンデスが起用された。
• アロン・カネトは負傷のためタイグランプリを欠場した。代役としてジェレミー・アルコバが起用された。

チームの変更

• マヒンドラとプジョーは2017年シーズンを以てチャンピオンシップから撤退した。このためアンヘル・ニエト・チーム、レドックス・プリュステルGP、CIP - グリーンパワーはマシンをKTMにスイッチした^[21][22]。
• AGRチームは2017年のアラゴングランプリをもってMoto2およびMoto3から撤退した。これは2017年シーズンを通じて財務上の問題が解消できず、パフォーマンスも向上しなかったためである。
• ブリティッシュ・タレントチームのMoto3チームは2018年から数年間活動を一時停止する^[23]。
• マリネリ・スナイパーズはMoto2での活動を始めるため、Moto3は1台体制に縮小した。
• アヴィンティア・レーシングは5シーズンぶりにMoto3に復帰する。同チームは、Team StyloBikeと提携し、KTMのマシンとリヴィオ・ロイを起用する^[4]。
• レッドブルKTMアジョも1台体制に縮小した。

カレンダーの変更

カタロニア・サーキットのレイアウト比較。2016年および2017年に使用されたコースレイアウトは上図。下図は2018年から使用されるコースレイアウト。

• イギリスグランプリはシルバーストン・サーキットから新設のサーキット・オブ・ウェールズ（英語版）に移る予定だったが、建設はまだ開始されていない^[43]。2つのサーキットは、シルバーストンが2018年のレースを開催するオプション契約に合意した^[44]。結局イギリスグランプリは、レース当日の危険なトラックコンディションのため、3つのレースすべてがキャンセルされ、代替レースは行われなかった。
• タイグランプリはカレンダーに新たに追加されたもので、10月7日にレースが予定されている。
• カタルーニャグランプリでは新しいコースレイアウトが使用された。以前のターン13、14、15コーナーのセットは大きな右コーナーにまとめられた。この新しいレイアウトは、2004年から2006年までフォーミュラ1で使用されていた。
