オックスフォード英語辞典とは、英国オックスフォード大学の出版関連部門であるオックスフォード大学出版局が刊行している英語辞典である。英語辞書として最大規模であり、最も権威ある辞書のひとつとして知られる。
オックスフォード英語辞典が辞書をアップデートする際、IT関連の語や語義が新たに追加されることも少なくなく、しばしば話題になる。「セクスティング」（sexting）のような新語が登録される場合もあれば、「ツイート」（tweet）のように、既存の単語に新たな語義が追加される場合もある。
オックスフォード英語辞典では、200年代半ば以降「Word of the Year」（今年の言葉）を公表している。その年の世相を象徴する言葉が選ばれるわけだが、中にはIT関連の言葉も少なからず選出されている。2005年には「ポッドキャスト」、2009年には「アンフレンド」、2013年には「セルフィー」が、Word of the Year（US）に選ばれた。

『オックスフォード英語辞典』(オックスフォードえいごじてん、英: Oxford English Dictionary) は、オックスフォード大学出版局が刊行する記述的英語辞典である[2]。略称はOED。『オックスフォード英語大辞典』とも呼ばれる。世界中の多様な英語の用法を記述するだけでなく、英語の歴史的発展をも辿っており、学者や学術研究者に対して包括的な情報源を提供している[3][4]。
