「エチオピア人を白く洗う」（エチオピアじんをしろくあらう）とは、イソップ寓話の1つであり、ペリー・インデックスにおいては、393番が振られている^[1]。この寓話はギリシア語の出典においてのみ見つかり、早い時期に不可能な試みを意味する慣用句となった。エンブレム・ブックに含まれていたため、ルネサンス期のヨーロッパで大いに流行り、大衆文化の一部となった。そこではおおっぴらな人種差別主義者的考えを後押しするのに、しばしば利用された。
