マネージング・ディレクター（英語: managing director、略語：MD）。直訳は業務執行取締役。英連邦諸国の会社では取締役会で取締役 (director)から選定される会社の業務執行を統括する責任者とされる。日本の取締役社長や米国会社の最高経営責任者 (CEO) 又は社長 (president)に相当する。英国の会社では、執行と監督を分離するために、取締役会長 (chairman of the board of directors)を兼任することが規制されている。米国会社においてはあまり使われない。香港では董事総経理（英語：managing director、中国語：董事總經理）の英語表記である。日本の会社においては、常務の英訳として使用される場合が多いが、世界銀行や国際通貨基金などの国際機関の場合は専務理事と和訳される。仏訳はディレクトゥー・ジェネラル (Directeur général (DG)) であることが多い。
