ロシア極東を含むシベリア（北アジア）は、地理的にはロシアにおけるアジア地域である。スラブ系ロシア人によるシベリア征服（17世紀から19世紀）とその後のソビエト時代の強制移住（1917-1991）の結果、今日のシベリアの人口統計ではロシア語を話す人々が大多数を占めている。同時に、ゆっくりながらも増加する先住民グループが、シベリアの総人口の約10％（約450万人）存在する。そのうちのいくつかのグループは南北アメリカの先住民と遺伝的に密接に関連している [1]
