カントリー・アンド・ウエスタン［country and western］

Ｃ＆Ｗと略して記すこともある。アメリカのヨーロッパ系移民が歌い継いできた、祖国の民謡を元にしたカウボーイ・ソング、マウンテン・ソング、ヒルビリー、ブルーグラスなどの音楽の総称。ブルースなどとともにアメリカの民謡ともいえるジャンル。

カントリー・ミュージック（英語: country music）は、1920年代にアメリカ合衆国バージニア州ブリストル市^[1]で発祥したとされる音楽のジャンル^[2]。21世紀に入ってからも、カントリー・ミュージックは、アメリカ南部・中西部を中心に多くのファンを擁する^[1]。

^ MVの映像は、ナタリーが“異端審問”や“思想矯正手術”にかけられるイメージになっている。
^ ハウリン・ウルフもロジャースのヨーデルをマネしたが、うまくいかず、吠えるだけになったという。
^ グラム・パーソンズは「グリーバス・エンジェル（嘆きの天使）」で知られている。ローリング・ストーンズの「ワイルド・ホーセズ」は、パーソンズに捧げられているという説もある。
