「conditioning」は、心理学の用語で、特定の刺激に対する反応を学習する過程を指す。この学習過程は、特定の行動が報酬や罰に結びつくことで形成される。具体的には、明るい光が目に入ると瞬きするという反射行動や、食事の時間になるとお腹がすくという条件付けられた反応などがこれに該当する。

読み方:じょうけんづけ

条件づけとは、一般に、新しい反応を形成する訓練過程をいう。その反応のタイプによって次の2つに大別される。①誘発刺激によって“必ず”誘発される反応で、Pavlov のいう無条件反応にあたるもの。この反応に基づく条件づけを、Pavlovian 条件づけ(別名、古典的条件づけ)という。②反応の自発に後続して生じる環境事象の変化(強化刺激または強化因子)によって強化を受ける反応。この反応に基づく条件づけを、オペラント条件づけという。
