プロテオバクテリア

プロテオバクテリア門(プロテオバクテリアもん、Proteobacteria)は細菌の門の一つである。光栄養、化学栄養、独立栄養、従属栄養、好気呼吸、嫌気呼吸、発酵など様々な代謝様式をもつ系統群が含まれ、炭素・窒素固定に関わるものや、自然界の物質循環に関わる多くの自由生活性のものが含まれている。また、大腸菌、サルモネラ、ビブリオ、ヘリコバクターなど多種多様な病原体が含まれている。また、この分類群は、他の細菌の分類群と同様に基本的にはrRNA配列によって定義されている。その多様性から、ギリシャ神話で姿を変幻自在に変える神プローテウスにちなんで名付けられた。
