イギリスの作曲家。オーケストラのための作品や弦楽器のための協奏曲、室内楽作品やソナタ、バレーや映画のための音楽など幅広く手がけた多作な作曲家である。ロンドンの王立音楽院に入学したが中退している。アイルランドの詩人、イェーツに感銘を受け、アイルランドの文化に感心を持って研究したことが後の作品に活かされている。その作風は、全音階を基盤としながら半音階的な和声で彩りをもたせ、華やかに仕立て上げた独自のものとなっている。その功績が評価され、後年、王室楽長の地位を得た。

サー・アーノルド・エドワード・トレヴァー・バックス（Sir Arnold Edward Trevor Bax, KCVO, 1883年11月8日 - 1953年10月3日）は、イギリスの作曲家、詩人、著作家。多作家であり、歌曲、合唱曲、室内楽曲、ピアノ独奏曲などに作品を残したが、最も知られるのは管弦楽曲である。一連の交響詩に加えて7曲の交響曲を書いており、一時はイギリスを代表する交響曲作家であると広く認められていた。
