ラジアータマツ
| 現在日本へ、ニュージーランド、さらに最近ではチリーから大量に輸入されて、ニュージーランドマツあるいはチリーマツなどと呼ばれていますが、これらは、全て造林木です。最近では、チリーから輸出されるラジアータマツの量が多くなり、ニュージーランド産の輸入量を越えるようになっています。この樹種の原産地は、実は米国のカリフォルニア州のモントレー郡なのです。このラジアータマツは、故郷のアメリカでは、用材になることは、ほとんどないようです。故郷で育たず外国へ植えられると、美しい林をつくり、大量の木材を生産をするというちょっと珍しい例です。現在、オーストラリア、アフリカ諸国などでも造林されています。ニュージーランドから今迄輸入されているものは、生長がよすぎて、年輪幅が広く、大きい節が多数出るため、木材としては低い評価を受けています。ニュージーランドでは、林の手入をよくして、将来、良質材を得ようと努めています。 ■木材 ■用途 |
