「rhetorical」とは

「rhetorical」とは、修辞的な、雄弁な、または説得力のあるといった意味を持つ形容詞である。言葉を鮮やかに操り、聞き手を引き込む力を持つ表現や、説得的な言葉遣いを指す。例えば、「rhetorical skills」は説得力のある話し方や文章作成能力を指し、「rhetorical question」は答えを求めるのではなく、強調や説得のために使われる疑問文を意味する。

「rhetorical」の発音・読み方

「rhetorical」の発音は、IPA表記では/ɹɪˈtɔːrɪkəl/となる。IPAのカタカナ読みでは「リ・トー・リ・カル」となり、日本人が発音するカタカナ英語では「リトリカル」と読む。発音によって意味や品詞が変わる単語ではない。
