アオミドロ (水綿、青味泥)[2] は、接合藻のアオミドロ属 (学名：Spirogyra) のこと、またはこれに属する藻類のことである。藻体は無分枝糸状であり、細胞内の葉緑体がリボン形でらせん状に配置していることを特徴とする (右図)。身近な淡水域に極めて普遍的に見られる。非常に大きな属であり、600種以上が記載されている。
