読み方：しとぎ

水に浸した生米をつき砕いて、種々の形に固めた食物。神饌(しんせん)に用いるが、古代の米食法の一種といわれ、後世は、もち米を蒸して少しつき、卵形に丸めたものもいう。しとぎもち。

「米」の記事における「粢（しとぎ）」の解説

米粉やもち米から作る、米を粉状にして水で練っただけの加熱しない餅のこと。地方によっては「しろもち」「からこ」「おはたき」「なまこ」などと呼ばれる。米を食する最も古い方法の1つだったとされ、後には常食の炊飯とは異なり神饌として奉じられた。
