バハーイー教とは

バハーイー‐きょう〔‐ケウ〕【バハーイー教】

《(アラビア)Bahā'ī》19世紀後半、バーブ教の分裂後、神の啓示を受けたイラン人バハーウッラー（本名ミールザ＝ホセイン＝アリー）の創始した一神教。世界平和、男女平等、偏見の打破、貧富の格差の除去、教育の重視などを唱える。聖職者を置かず共同体を結成して活動する。日本には明治42年（1909）伝来。本部はイスラエルのハイファ。イスラム教から派生したが、イスラム教は異端と見なす。バハイ教。
