IEEE 802.11sは、無線LAN規格IEEE 802.11のメッシュネットワークに関する改訂である。無線デバイスを相互接続して、比較的固定された（モバイルではない）トポロジおよび無線アドホックネットワークに使用できる無線LANメッシュネットワークを作成する方法を定義している。IEEE 802.11sワーキンググループは、大学や産業界からのボランティアを利用して、ワイヤレスメッシュネットワークの仕様と可能な設計ソリューションを提供している。標準として、文書は最終決定の前に何度も繰り返し改訂された。
