ガベルまたはギャベル（英: gavel）は、裁判や議会などで用いられる儀礼用の小型の木槌のこと。一般的に広葉樹で作られている。アメリカにおいては議会や法廷で用いられる一般的なものであるが^{[注釈 1]}、世界的にはオークションで見られる。注意喚起や、裁定や宣言の区切りを示すためにも使用され、裁判長（議長）の権限と権利を象徴するものでもある^[1] 。広葉樹で作られることが多いサウンドブロック（打撃板）と併用され、叩いた際の音の響きを向上させている。会議でガベルを用いるようになったのは1789年春にニューヨークで第1回目の上院議会が開かれた際にジョン・アダムズ副大統領が用いたことに由来するとされる。それ以来、ガベルで演台や机を叩いて開会を示すのが通例となった。また、閉会や議場を落ち着かせて秩序を保つ目的にも使用される。
