アドヴァンス・オーストラリア・フェア（英語: Advance Australia Fair、進め 美しのオーストラリア（すすめ うるわしのオーストラリア））はオーストラリアの国歌。

歴史

ピーター・ドッヅ・マコーミックにより1878年に創られ、同年11月30日（聖アンデレの日）にシドニー、Highland Societyでアンドリュー・フェアファクスによって初演された。間もなく人気を博し、1901年のオーストラリア連邦発足式で1万人の合唱が行われた。1907年にオーストラリア政府は創作を讃えマコーミックに100ポンドを授与した。

国歌に認定されるまでこの曲は様々な機会に使われていた。例えば、第二次世界大戦時は国営放送オーストラリア放送協会（ABC）はニュースの時に使った。また公の行事の開始、終了時に演奏された。

1974年に意見投票（オーストラリア統計局により6万人）が行われ、国歌として最適であるとされた。

1977年の国民投票で、この曲が他の3つを上回った。

2. 「ワルチング・マチルダ」(28.5%)
3. 当時の国歌、イギリスの国歌と同一「女王陛下万歳」(18.7%)

1984年4月19日、ボブ・ホーク首相の労働党政権によって国歌に決定され、総督の公式な宣誓を待った。

2004年大晦日の祝典でシドニー市長クローヴァー・ムーア Clover Moore がこの曲のダンスリミックスに「ワルチング・マチルダ」の歌詞を乗せて演じ、複雑な反応を得た。以前には2003年にコメディアンのアダム・ヒルズ(en:Adam Hills)により、Jimmy barnesの "Working Class Man"にこの曲の歌詞をのせて発表された。

「ワルチング・マチルダ」は「110年前からのオーストラリアの思想の一角をなす」として、今でも特に評価され、「ワルチング・マチルダ」の方が良いとも評される。多くの外国人は単純にこの歌を国歌だと思う。歌詞は、「放浪の身の労働者が羊を盗んで食べてしまい、警察と地主から逃げるために池に入水すると言うもので、国歌にはふさわしくない内容」とも思われるが、スワッグマン（swagman）の空想的な人物像、危なっかしい存在性、権威に対する頑な挑戦、荒野に生きる労働者階級であることなどを長年オーストラリア人は愛してきた。

歌詞

国歌に採用される際に旧宗主国であるイギリスの事が歌われるオリジナルの2番、4番、5番の歌詞は省かれ、3行が男女公平な言葉（例えば、who←he/she）に、「若い連邦（youthful Commonwealth）」という言葉も見直された。また、2021年1月には「我らは若くて自由（We are young and free）」の一節が「我らは一つで自由（We are one and free）」に変更された。
