キュレーションとは、IT用語としては、人手で情報やコンテンツを収集・整理し、それによって新たな価値や意味を付与して共有することである。
キュレーション（curation）という言葉は、ラテン語で「世話役」といった意味の語を語源に持つ。一般的には、美術館などで企画展を組む（館長や学芸員に相当する）役職を「キュレーター」（curator）と呼ぶ。キュレーターは企画展において、特定のテーマに沿って作品を収集し、それぞれの作品を特定の文脈の中に位置づけ、観客に紹介する、といった役割を担っている。
Web上でキュレーションによるコンテンツの価値を提供するサービスは、キュレーションサービスなどと呼ばれている。国内の主なキュレーションサービスとしては、「NAVERまとめ」や「togetter」などを挙げることができる。
