「tort」は法律用語で、英語圏の法律においては、他人に対して過失や故意により損害を与えた行為を指す。具体的には、物理的な傷害、財産損害、名誉棄損、プライバシー侵害などが該当する。このような行為があった場合、被害者は加害者に対して損害賠償を請求することができる。
