「conceive」とは、思い付くという行為のことを意味する表現。

「conceive」の発音記号は「kənsíːv」となり、日本語読み風にカタカナ表記した場合は「カンスィーブ」と読む。「kə」は舌の付け根を上あごの奥につけて「クゥ」と息を破裂させて曖昧に「ア」と続け、「n」で舌先を上前歯の付け根にあてて「ン」と発音、「síː」で舌先を前歯から離して「シー」と息を吐くように発声し、「v」は上前歯で下唇を軽く噛む感じで隙間から「ヴ」と音を出す。これらを続けて「カァンシィーヴ」のイメージで発音する。

「conceive」の語源・由来

「conceive」の語源は、ラテン語で「取り込む」を意味する「concipio」であり、強調の接頭辞である「con-」と「取る」という意味を表す「capio」の組み合わせに由来する。
