うりかえで (瓜楓)
●わが国の本州、宮城・群馬県以南から四国、九州に分布しています。山地の林縁に生え、高さは６～８メートルになります。樹皮は緑色を帯びた灰褐色です。葉は卵形でカエデの仲間では最も小さく、対生してわずかに３裂することがあります。４月から５月ごろ、枝先に総状花序をだし、淡い黄色の花を咲かせます。翼果は赤味を帯びて、ほぼ水平に開きます。
●カエデ科カエデ属の落葉低木で、学名は Acer crataegifolium。英名は Hawthorn-leaved maple。The hawthorn-leaved maple (Acer crataegifolium) belongs to Aceraceae(the Maple family). It is a small deciduous tree that is distributed southwardfrom Miyagi and Gunma prefectures on Honshu to the islands of Shikokuand Kyushu. This tree grows in montane forest edges and can reach 6-8 min height. The bark is grayish-brown with a green tinge. The ovate,opposite leaves are the smallest in the maple genus. They are occasionallytrilobate. The racemes appear on terminal branches and bear pale yellowflowers from April to May. The fruits are samaras with wings that open toalmost 180 degrees.
