『マムーナ』（Mamouna）は、イングランドのロック・ミュージシャンのブライアン・フェリーが1994年に発表した9作目のソロ・アルバムである[1][注釈 1]。
解説
経緯
フェリーは1992年の発表を目論んでいたアルバム『ホロスコープ』の製作が様々な理由で行き詰まったので、代替作として1993年3月にカヴァー集『タクシー』を発表した。

彼は『タクシー』のプロモーションで取材に応じて、元ロキシー・ミュージックのブライアン・イーノ[注釈 2]と再会して昼食を共にして「48トラックのレコーディング技術の話に花を咲かせ、大いに馬が合った」ことを語り、イーノに新作アルバムの制作への協力を頼む可能性を示唆した[2]。そして『タクシー』の共同プロデューサーだったロビン・トロワーと共にスタジオに戻って、新作アルバムの制作を再開した。
トロワーは当時を回想して次のように語っている[3]。
自分が考えるに、『ホロスコープ』が泥沼に嵌ってしまったのはブライアンが殆どの曲の歌詞を書かないまま録音作業を続けていたからだ。
ブライアンは『最高傑作』を描こうとしたが、はっきり決まった主題がないのにパレットに余りにも多くの絵の具を揃えてしまったのかもしれない。彼は大変な才能と直観力がある芸術家で、公式に基づいて作業したりはしない。自分の役割は、彼がしていた事の実践性（practicalities）に目を光らせることだった。
内容
完成した新作アルバムは『ホロスコープ』ではなく『マムーナ』と題された。タイトル曲は『タクシー』発表後に書かれた楽曲である。
イーノが参加してほぼ全曲に様々な音響処理[注釈 3]を施したほか、「ワイルドキャット・デイズ」をフェリーと共作した[注釈 4][4]。また同じく元ロキシー・ミュージックのアンディ・マッケイ（サクソフォーン）が「ワイルドキャット・デイズ」を含む2曲、フィル・マンザネラ（ギター）が1曲に参加した。
アルバム・ジャケットに使用された絵画は、イングランドの画家ジェームス・ワード（1769年 - 1859年）の作品である。
本作は1994年9月に発表され、チャートの最高位11位を記録したが1か月で圏外に消えた[3]。本作からのシングルである『偽りの微笑み』[5]と『マムーナ』[6]は、それぞれチャートで52位と57位に留まった[3]。
フェリーは本作発表後、6年ぶりのツアーを行ない、1995年3月にはソロとしては3度目の日本公演を開催した。

アルバム『ホロスコープ』
解説
2023年、『ホロスコープ』が3枚組CDボックス『マムーナ/ホロスコープ 3CD デラックスエディション』のCD1として発表された[7]。CD2は『マムーナ』のリミックス、CD3は両アルバムの未発表デモ音源集『スケッチズ』である。
『ホロスコープ』には8曲が収録され、『マムーナ』の4曲「ザ・サーティーナイン・ステップス」「一人でいたい」「N.Y.C.」「ジェミナイ・ムーン」の別録音が収録された。「ザ・サーティーナイン・ステップス」と「N.Y.C.」はそれぞれ'Where Do We Go From Here (The 39 Steps)'と'Desdemona (N.Y.C.)'に改題された。
'Mother Of Pearl'はロキシー・ミュージックのサード・アルバム『ストランデッド』（1973年）の収録曲の再録音である。'Loop De Li'の別録音は2014年に発表されたアルバム『アヴォンモア』に収録された。

- ^ イーノはフェリーが結成したロキシー・ミュージックのオリジナル・メンバーの一人で、テープとシンセサイザーを担当した。ロキシー・ミュージックは1972年にデビューすると、グラム・ロックの新星として瞬く間に成功を収め、妖艶な雰囲気を漂わせたイーノは主導権を握っていたフェリーを上回る人気を集めた。その結果イーノは、1973年6月、2作目のアルバム『フォー・ユア・プレジャー』発表後のツアーが終わった後、フェリーの意向を受けたマネージメントから契約の解消を通告された。
