アベナキ族

アベナキ族（Abenaki, Abnaki, Abinaki, Alnôbak等）は、アメリカ合衆国ではネイティブアメリカン、カナダではファースト・ネーションに数えられる、北アメリカ大陸における先住民族のうちの1部族である。アルゴンキン語族の中の東アルゴンキン語族に分類される言語の1つである、アベナキ語を話す部族としても知られている。アベナキ族はカナダではケベック州や沿海州、アメリカ合衆国ではニューイングランド地方で暮らしている。この地域は東アルゴンキン語族では「夜明けの地」を意味するWabanahkikと呼ばれている。アベナキ族はワバナキ連邦を構成する5部族の1員である。
