「lexicon」とは

「lexicon」は、言語学の領域でよく用いられる単語である。一般的に、個々の言語の全ての語彙を指す。また、個々の人が知っている語彙の集合、つまり個々の人の「語彙知識」を指すこともある。さらに、コンピュータ科学では、コンピュータプログラムが理解できる語彙の集合を指すこともある。

「lexicon」の発音・読み方

「lexicon」の発音は、IPA表記では /ˈlɛksɪkɒn/ である。カタカナ表記では「レクシコン」となる。日本人が発音する際のカタカナ英語の読み方も「レクシコン」である。

言語学における語彙目録（ごいもくろく）、あるいは単に語彙、またはレキシコンもしくはレクシコン（lexicon）とは、言語の知識の一部で、ある言語の全ての丸ごと覚えている単位（語、形態素、イディオムなど）の形式・意味・文法的特性についての知識の総体である。
