グレン・ウィリアム・ベル・ジュニア（Glen William Bell, Jr., 1923年9月3日[1] - 2010年1月16日[2][3]）は、アメリカの実業家である。メキシコ風ファーストフードのチェーン店「タコベル」の創業者として知られる。
- ^ 軍での調理経験が後のファーストフード店開店の基礎となった、と説明されることが多く、「シェフであった」と述べる文献もある。しかし伝記にはガダルカナル島では調理をせず、皿洗いなど雑用に忙殺されたといった記述や[6]、グアムでの立哨中に遭遇した事件に関する言及もあり[7]、調理の仕事がどの程度の割合であったのか判然としない。ドミノ・ピザの創業者であるトム・モナハン、リトル・シーザーズの創業者マイク・イリッチがいずれも海兵隊出身であることから、海兵隊出身者は飲食業に適性があるとの指摘もある[8]。
- ^ ベルが最初に開店した店の店名は文献により異なる。タコベルは創業者の死去を告知するプレスリリースにおいて、店の名は"Bell's Drive-In"であったとしており[2]、訃報記事ではこれに従っているものも多い[12]。"Bell's Burgers"や"Bell's Hamburgers"[13]といった店名だったとする文献もあり、最初の店の写真として紹介される写真では、屋根の看板に"Bell's Burgers"、窓に"Bell's Hamburgers"とあるのが読み取れる。ほかには"Bell's Hamburgers and Hot Dogs"という店名だったとするものもある[14]。販売していたものについてもハンバーガースタンドであったとするもの、ホットドッグスタンドであったとするもの、その両方であったとするものがあるが[15]、伝記によればホットドッグは後から追加されたメニューである。最初の店を開店したのは1946年であるとする文献もある[16]。
