エリテリウム

エリテリウム（学名：Eritherium ) は、ゾウ目(長鼻目)の絶滅した属。学名は、「早い」(eri) の「獣」(therium) を意味する[1]。ゾウ目最古の属で小型犬程度の大きさである。ゾウ目の起源を探る上で重要な存在であるが、標本も少ないため詳細は分かっていない。

Gheerbrant (2009) - ^ 発見時の Gheerbrant の論文には国立自然史博物館 (フランス)(le Muséum national d'histoire naturelle)の記載があり標本番号も同館のナンバリング(MNHN)であるが、実際に Wikimedia Commonsにアップロードされているホロタイプ標本と思われる写真(本ページでも採用)は 2015年にリヨンのコンフルエンス美術館での撮影となっている。現在も展示があるのかは不明。
