アゴニアタイト目（アゴニアタイトもく）は、古生代のデボン紀に生息したアンモノイド亜綱に属する頭足類の属[1]。アナルセステス類とも呼ばれる場合もある[2]。
分類学的命名
アゴニアタイト目の学名AgoniatitidaはRuzhencev (1957)により命名されており[3]、Miller and Furnish (1954)により命名されたAnarcestidaの主観的なシノニムである[4]。Anarcerstidaという学名はSteinmann (1890)のAnarcestidae（以前はAnarcestinae）に基づき、Agoniatiidaという学名はHolzapfel (1899)のAgnoniatidaeに基づいている。
Saunders, Work, and Nikolaeva (1999)はAnarcestidaという学名を採用し、Agoniatinaを亜目として併用し、優先権を維持した[5]。Shevyrev (2006)はRuzhencev (1957)に倣い、Agonititidaという学名を用いている[6]。
形態
アゴニアタイト目は基盤的なアンモノイド類であり、腹側に位置する連室細管を取り巻く隔壁が祖先のオウムガイと同様に後方へ突出する（retrochoanitic）ほか、縫合線がゴニアタイト型で襞の数が様々である。殻の形状み円盤状から球状まで多様であり、巻きが緩い場合もあれば密な場合もあるが[4]、ゴニアタイト目と比較して緩巻きかつ円盤状のものが多いと説明されることもある[1]。
