HATネット
HATネット(Hungarian Automated Telescope Network, ハンガリー自動望遠鏡ネットワーク)とは、食検出法による太陽系外惑星の発見を目的とした観測網である。全自動式の6台の小型望遠鏡から構成され、ハーバード・スミソニアン天体物理学センターによって維持・管理されている。
ハンガリーの小規模グループが開発を主導したため、名称にハンガリーを冠している。計画は1999年に立ち上げられ、2001年5月から本格的な観測を開始した[1]。初の惑星は2006年に公表され、以降は年間数個のペースで惑星を報告し続けている。
2002年には運用を終了したROTSE-IIプロジェクトからハードウェアの貸与を受け、新世代の観測ネットワークへの更新が進んだ。ROTSE-IIはガンマ線バースト残光の自動観測を目的とし、HATNetに似た観測システムを運用していた。2002年には新型観測システムの原型機であるHAT-5が開発された。第一世代の望遠鏡が200mm F2.8カメラレンズを使用していたのに対し、HAT-5ではより大口径かつ高画質の200mm F1.8レンズに更新し、架台の指向精度やソフトウェアも改良された。2003年9月にはHAT-5と同仕様の量産型であるHAT-6とHAT-7がフレッド・ローレンス・ホイップル天文台天文台に設置された。さらに同年11月にはマウナケア天文台群に同型機を2台設置した[2]。
2009年からは、オーストラリア、ナミビア、チリの3つの望遠鏡もHATネットに加わった。こちらは南半球でのHATネットという意味でHAT-Southと呼ばれている。従来のHATネットの望遠鏡で発見された系外惑星には、後述の通り「HAT-P-1b」などという名称を与えているが、HAT-Southで発見されたものについては「HATS-1b」のように名称を区別している。
発見した惑星
- 2025年3月20日現在、HATネットによって150個(Northで74個、Southで76個)の惑星が発見・確認されている。
- 褐色矮星またはその可能性が高いもの(木星質量の13倍を目安とする)は記載していない(発見した褐色惑星の一覧に記載)。
- HATS-73は欠番となっている。
- 「スーパーWASP」はHATネットと競合する関係にあり、同一の惑星を2つのチームがそれぞれ独立して発見する出来事が何度か起きている。WASP-11b/HAT-P-10b、HAT-P-27b/WASP-40b、HAT-P-30b/WASP-51bの3つの惑星にはスーパーWASPとHATネットの両方から名前が与えられている。
