アルフレッド・ローマー（Alfred Sherwood Romer、1894年12月28日 - 1973年11月5日）は、アメリカ合衆国の古生物学者・生物学者であり、特に脊椎動物の進化を専門としている。
- ^ これにはゴドフリーの曾祖父であるトーマス・H・パーキンス(Thomas Handasyd Perkins 1764-1854) の影響が大きい。裕福な実業家だったパーキンスは、1817年にマサチューセッツ州グロスターで起きた『グロスターの大海蛇(Gloucester sea serpent)』騒動の際に懐疑的な視点で現地に赴き詳細な記録を残した[14]。パーキンスの娘エリザとその夫も1819年に大海蛇を見た事もあって家族の間ではその話が語り伝えられており、エリザの孫のゴドフリーに大海蛇に対する大きな興味を引き起こした[8]。
