アレン・J.フランセス（Allen J. Frances、1942年 - ）は、医学博士で、『診断と統計のマニュアル第4版』（DSM-IV）の編集委員長として知られるアメリカの精神科医である。彼は、診断のインフレによる精神医学の拡大する境界を警告し、それは正常が飲み込まれ、健康を気にする人に対する過剰な治療は、より重篤な病気を治療するという核となる使命から注意を逸らす事になると述べている。2013年、フランセスは「精神医学的な診断は、客観的な生物学的検査よりはいまだ不確実性のある主観的な判断に頼っている」と主張する。[1]
