リンの同位体とは？わかりやすく解説

リンの同位体(リンのどういたい)には、何種類かがあるが、そのうち³¹Pのみが安定である。リンの放射性同位体には次のようなものがある。

³²Pは14.3日の半減期でベータ崩壊を起こす（1.71MeV）。主に同位体標識したDNA、RNAプローブとして、ノーザンブロッティングやサザンブロッティング等の分子生物学実験に用いられる。高エネルギーのベータ線が皮膚や角膜を透過し、また摂取、吸入、吸収された³²Pは骨や核酸に取り込まれるため、欧州労働安全衛生機構は、実験で ³²P を取り扱う際には白衣、使い捨て手袋、ゴーグルを着用するように求めている。さらにβ線のエネルギーが高いため、鉛等の密度の高い物質で遮蔽しようとすると、制動放射という現象によって二次X線が放出される。そのため、アクリル樹脂、プラスチック、木、水等の密度の低い物質によって遮蔽が行われる^[1]。
