イギリスのチベット遠征では、1903年12月から1904年9月までに行われた、英印軍によるチベット侵攻事件について述べる。これはイギリスの保護国シッキムと、清朝の影響下にあるチベットの間にあった領土問題を解決するために、チベット・フロンティア委員会の後押しによって実施されたものだった[2]。19世紀、イギリスはビルマとシッキムを征服した。清朝の影響下に入っていたチベット政府は、イギリス領インドとの緩衝地帯がヒマラヤ山脈一帯を残すまでに狭まったことに危機感を募らせた。
