玉石

玉石（たまいし、英: Cobblestone）は、土木工学や地盤工学などで用いられる一定の大きさの石（礫＝つぶて）。

^ 転石と玉石を区別する理由は、土木工事では大きな礫の混入した土質では施工性が悪くなり工事費用が増大する原因となるためである^[2]。
^ さらに広範に見渡すとニューヨーク、シカゴ、サンフランシスコ、ニューキャッスル、ポートランド（メイン州）、ボルチモア、チャールストン、ニューオーリンズなどにも見られる。
