ホッキョククジラ（Balaena mysticetus）は、偶蹄目[注釈 1]セミクジラ科ホッキョククジラ属に属するヒゲクジラである。
注釈
- ^ 「鯨偶蹄目」とする説もある。
- ^ 16秒目以降でヘッドスラップやテイルスラップを行っている。
- ^ 通常は「セミクジラ」と訳すが、セミクジラ科全般の意味でも使用される。とくに区別する場合は、前に分布域をつけてセミクジラは「southern - 」、ホッキョククジラは「Greenland - 」などと呼び分けたり、頭部形状からホッキョククジラを「bowhead」と呼ぶ。
- ^ 現在では「Greenland Whale」という呼称はホッキョククジラを主に指す。
- ^ ただし、語り手は「特にそうは思えないが」と断っている。
