アンガーフィスト（英: Angerfist、1981年6月20日 - ）は、オランダのハードコアテクノプロデューサー、DJである。本名はダニー・マセリング（Danny Masseling）。長年にわたりハードコアシーンの第一線で活躍し、「ハードコアの帝王」（King of Hardcore）とも称される[1]。歪んだキックと攻撃的なボーカルを特徴とする彼のサウンドは、現代のハードコアのスタイルを決定づけたと評価されている[2]。
メイン名義以外にも多彩な別名義で活動しているほか、The Supreme Team（Outblast、Tha Playah、Evil Activitiesとの共作ユニット）、Masters Elite（Catscan、Outblastとのユニット）、Roland & Sherman（Outblastとのユニット）などのグループにも参加している。
ライブではMC Prozac（Minne Roos）が同行する。MC Prozacは2013年以降、それまでアンガーフィストと共有していたDJ Bloodcage名義を自身のアクトとして引き継いでいる[3]。ステージ上では素顔を明かさず、トレードマークである白いホッケーマスクを着用してパフォーマンスを行う[4]。
来歴
初期
16歳から楽曲制作を開始する。4つ打ちのプログラムループやブレイクビーツの打ち込みから始め、次第に音楽制作への熱意を高めていった[5]。2001年、DJ Buzz Fuzzの名で知られるBZRK Recordsのディレクター、Mark Vosにデモテープを送ったところ Vos に気に入られ契約を締結。「Menace II Society」および「Angerfist」名義で初のEPをリリースし、プロとしてのキャリアをスタートさせた[6][7]。
ハードなバスドラムと映画・テレビ番組等からのサンプリングを多用したアグレッシブな「ニュースタイル（Nustyle）」サウンドは、瞬く間にガバシーンで人気を獲得した。また、1990年代〜2000年代のギャングスタ・ラップへの傾倒も、彼のトラック構成やボーカルサンプリングに大きな影響を与えている[4]。2000年代半ばまでに「Dance with the Wolves」、「Raise Your Fist」（歌詞の「Raise your Fist, for Angerfist!」は彼の代名詞的なフレーズとなった[8]）、「Riotstarter」といった数多くのヒット作を生み出し、2005年にはMasters of Hardcoreの公式アンセム「The World Will Shiver」を手掛けた。
パフォーマンスとマスク
アンガーフィストは、Sensation Black、Masters of Hardcore、Defqon. 1、Knockout Outdoor、Mysteryland、Thunderdome、Dominatorといったハードダンス系の主要イベントをはじめ、EDC Las Vegas、Tomorrowland、Electric Love、Ultra Music Festivalといった世界的なEDMフェスティバルにも数多く出演している[9]。
彼のトレードマークである白いホッケーマスクは映画『13日の金曜日』シリーズの怪人ジェイソン・ボーヒーズから着想を得たもので、黒いパーカーとともに着用することで素顔や特徴を完全に隠している。2017年のインタビューによると、当初マスクを着用した理由は重度のあがり症（ステージ恐怖症）によるものであり、「ステージ上のキャラクターではなく純粋に音楽に耳を傾けてほしい」という思いからだったと語っている。のちに不安感は克服したものの、マスクはブランドの象徴的アイコンとして定着している[4]。
なお、2013年7月には、BloodcageプロジェクトにおいてMC ProzacがDJ Bloodcageとしてライブ出演のフロントマンを務め、楽曲制作はアンガーフィストと共同で継続する体制が発表された[10]。
アルバム展開
これまでに7枚のアルバムをリリースしている。2006年のデビューアルバム『Pissin' Razorbladez』には31曲が収録され、代表曲を繋いだ初の「Angerfist Megamix」も収録された[11]（メガミックスはその後、2010年から2017年まで毎年YouTube等で公開された[12]）。
2008年には30曲入りの『Mutilate』[13]、2011年末にはCD3枚組・全45曲の『Retaliate』を発表[14]。2014年には同じくCD3枚組の『The Deadfaced Dimension』をリリースし、Brabanthallenで大規模なリリースパーティーを開催した[8]。翌2015年の『Raise & Revolt』は、新曲15曲（CD 1）とクラシックトラック39曲（CD 2）からなる2枚組構成となっている[15][16]。2017年の6thアルバム『Creed of Chaos』では、テレビドラマ『IT』のサンプリングを取り入れた「Pennywise」などを収録。2019年の『Diabolic Dice』は、サイコロの各面を表した全6曲構成でAFAS Liveにてリリースイベントが行われた[17]。
チャート実績と受賞
イギリスの音楽雑誌『DJ Mag』による人気投票「Top 100 DJs」において、2011年に39位で初登場[18]。以降、ハードコアDJとしては異例となる13年連続（2011年〜2023年）でのランクインを果たした（2023年は71位）[19]。キャリア最高位は2018年の29位である。同ランキングに継続して選出された数少ないハードコアアーティストであり（他には彼の妻であるMiss K8など）、ハードコアのコマーシャル化に対する批判を浴びることもあったが、確固たる存在感を示し続けた[4]。
また同誌の部門賞である「Highest Hard（ハード系DJ最高位）」を、ハードスタイルのヘッドハンターズらと競い合いながら、2014年〜2016年（3年連続）[20][21][22]および2020年〜2023年（4年連続）[23][24][25][26]の計7回獲得している（2024年以降はハードテクノのSara Landryが受賞[27]）。
さらに、Masters of Hardcoreが主催する年間の人気トラック投票（MOH Top 100）においても多数の1位を獲得している。

コラボレーションと他ジャンルへの展開
2010年代以降、伝統的なハードコアの枠組みを超え、ロウスタイル（ロウ・ハードスタイル）のプロデューサーとのコラボレーションを本格化させた。2016年にはラディカル・リデンプションとAirforce Festivalの公式アンセム「Order Of Hostility」を制作[32]。2018年にはWarfaceとのコラボレーション曲「Number 1」を発表し、翌年のHardFestにて両者がマスクを着用してB2Bセットを披露した[33][34][35]。さらに2026年には、覆面ユニットGunz for Hireとのコラボレーション「Masked Military」としてのB2Bセットを発表している[36]。
2020年代半ばには、急速に台頭したハードテクノシーンにも着目。従来のBPM 180〜200前後のハードコアスタイルにとどまらず、2022年頃からややテンポを落とした楽曲制作やハードテクノトラックのDJセットへの導入を開始した[25]。ライニアー・ゾンネフェルト、Gaston Zani、覆面アーティストのCARVなどテクノアーティストとのコラボレーションを相次いで発表している[37]。また、トランス、プログレッシブ・ハウス、テクノなどのミニマルかつスローな領域を探求するための新名義「M4ZE PUSHER」を始動させている[26]。
