2018年から欧州航空安全機関(EASA)はこの種の航空機の認証に取り組んでいる[24]。2019年7月、EASAはSC-VTOL-01 : Special Condition for VTOL aircraft.を公開した。この文書は、VTOL機の安全性と設計目標について規定したものである。この中には、eVTOLについて書かれた特別なセクションがある。
アメリカ合衆国
小型の航空機の認証(Part 23 - FAA certification)が発効されている。特にPart 23-Amendment 64にはeVTOLに関する記述が盛り込まれている[25]。
